Prayer is simple!
How to make contact with God (5-8)
Be Real.
“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. V. 5
Be Relaxed.
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. V. 6
Be Revealing.
“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. V. 7,8
What to say when I make contact with God (9)
Praise: I give God my love.
9. ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Purpose: I give God my life.
10. ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
Provision: I give God my worries.
11. Give us this day our daily bread.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. Present your request to God.” Phil. 4:6
Pardon: I give God my guilt.
12a. ‘And forgive us our debts… “sins” Luke 11:4
People: I give god my hurts.
12b. as we also have forgiven our debtors… 14.For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
Protection: I give God my fears and my temptations.
13. “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
The Powerful key to prayer: Praying for others.
“Our Father…give US…OUR daily bread…forgive US…OUR debts…as WE have forgiven OUR debts…lead US not into temptation…deliver US…”
“I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
