In 1999, God called Joy into ministry. At the time, she was assisting graduate business students in their job searches. While it was very rewarding to help others toward their earthly futures, God challenged her to join a ministry, which would lead others toward their heavenly futures. The first ministry position was assisting Dr. Tim Elmore at EQUIP, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. John C. Maxwell; through Dr. Elmore’s ministry, she had a role in assisting him as he taught, mentored, and led college students, adult men, and company executives in the importance of strong Christian leadership.
In late 2000, God opened the door to accept the ministry assistant position at First Baptist Church of Fairburn. She is thankful that God placed her in a career that provides a lot of chances to change hats. As the financial assistant, editor/compiler of the newsletter, onsite building maintenance coordinator, and other roles, every day is different and provides endless opportunities to share Jesus with others if not by words then by actions and attitude.
Joy and her husband, Jonathan, have four children and three dogs. They enjoy watching sports, trying new restaurants, going on adventures, and connecting with others.
